The Start of Dobbi

Dobbi was launched on February 14, 2018, by founders Maurits Tiethoff and Ruben van Pelt, with the support of shareholders PostNL and Henkel. Eight months later, Dobbi was recognized by CINET as the most innovative dry cleaner in the world, confirming our digital and customer-focused approach.

National Coverage and First Service Points

Dobbi expands and achieves 100% national home coverage. We start a pilot with physical service points at SPAR supermarkets and welcome our first B2B customers. Dobbi is nominated for the KVK Innovation Top 100 and wins the title of Best Dry Cleaner in the Netherlands (NETEX).

Successful pilots with SPAR and JUMBO strengthen our network of service points. Dobbi once again wins the award for Best Dry Cleaner in the Netherlands (CINET).

Integration with PostNL and Further Growth

Dobbi integrates its service into the PostNL Retail Terminal network, enabling a rapid expansion to 500 service points. Dobbi is recognized as the Most Promising Company in North Holland (OVNH).

Dobbi acquires Stomerij.nl, increasing the number of service points to over 1,000 locations. We start a pilot for second-hand clothing collection through our network. Dobbi becomes a finalist for the King Willem I Plaque, a prestigious entrepreneurship award.

Dobbi launches a national clothing donation program at 800 service points, in collaboration with PostNL and the Salvation Army (Reshare), giving second-hand clothing a new life. Dobbi is selected for the GO-NH Scale-Up Program, an initiative supporting sustainable and innovative businesses.

Dobbi further expands its B2B services, serving more (large) corporate clients. Dobbi is awarded the title of the Most Sustainable Dry Cleaner in the World (CINET), a recognition of our commitment to a circular textile industry.

Dobbi launches a completely redesigned website and app, making it even faster and easier for customers to use our services. For B2B clients, Dobbi introduces a unique digital service within the app, allowing them to place orders, set frequencies, and gain billing insights—all in one platform. Dobbi is strengthening its commitment to circularity by expanding its second-hand textile collection network to promote large-scale reuse and recycling.

The Impact of the Clothing Industry

The clothing industry is one of the most polluting industries in the world. In the Netherlands alone, 300 million kilos of clothing are discarded annually. Only half of this is collected, and less than 1% is actually recycled. This results in enormous waste of resources and a significant environmental burden.
